Independent Art

• Completed my own 120-page webcomic, The Locked Maze.
• Awarded three Daily Deviations from deviantArt for my art submissions.
• Published three issues of my webcomic (using POD publisher Ka-blam!).
• Entered the art show at the 2009 Foolscap convention, won "Best Color."
• Won two honorable mentions for my entries in the World of Warcraft comic contest.

Independent Web Development

• 2011 TheLockedMaze.com: created site on WordPress platform with a custom theme. Uses plugins for site caching and mobile (customized).
• 2011 JeffreySewell.com: created site on WordPress platform with a custom theme. Also, previously created this site (2007) on MovableType 4 with extensive customization.
• 2010 AbleDental.net: Straight-forward, 5-page website made from scratch using basic HTML and CSS.
• 2006 Group Intellect: Website created for a friend's business. Runs on a pared-down php cms and mysql database. Included language options for writing/reading the site in English and German.

Independent Consulting Work

• 2011 - MYSQL: helped create a usage database for wireless company Clearwire. 2+ billion row tables (per month!) optimized with partitions, smaller columns, and extracted summaries for fast querying/updating. Optimized the insert and update SQL queries to run in minimal time. Provided statistics and data validation.

StockCharts.com (2005-2010)

• Wrote tools and replacement scripts in PHP and MySQL/MSSQL.
• Moved entire site from antiquated html (comprised of old/undocumented/buggy Java or webcgi pages, and thousands of static HTML pages) to modern CSS templates.
• Altered static HTML client-side with user customization and database values via cross-domain AJAX and jQuery. Also, added edit-in-place, slideshow-style popups and other dynamic features.
• Altered Zendesk and Typepad templates to match new site design.
• Created all print and online advertisements/banners/logos
• Designed future order process.
• Designed/coded Market Message blog app.
• Designed/coded UI for SharpCharts app.
• Designed/coded custom CMS application.

Portent Interactive (2004)

Created CSS2/XHTML web sites based on artists' PhotoShop mockups. Worked with MovableType, SlashCode, ColdFusion.

Blue Nile (2003-2004)

Created multi-threaded, XML-driven http Java bots and spiders to interact with internal and external websites in a flexible manner and rapidly test new builds and performance under stress.

• Completed 1000 unique orders in three hours from one machine, hitting 14000 URLs.

Atmedica USA, LLC. (2002-2003)

Wrote automated test suites in PHP, ASP, and C#.

• Helped design and create an automated testing application which distributed work between multiple machines in order to finish testing more rapidly.

Liberate Technologies (2000-2002)

Created automated test suites using PHP, PERL, JavaScript, and MySQL. Administrated Oracle database and wrote PL/SQL tools.

• Developed brand-new php test case database application in 6 months to track test results, create per build test plans, and execute testing sessions on target software. Also wrote training documents and provided pop-up help inside application.
• Assumed and completed automated ECMAScript automated testing suite for web browser application. Provided improved access and performance, and more-readable results to users. This suite discovered 100s of bugs and supplied automatic ECMA-compliance statistics for every new build.

Newspaper Agency Corp. (1999-2000)

Handled all internet classified ads orders via tools scripted in VBScript.

• Created a program which filtered incoming email orders, assigned them to representatives in a format optimized for data entry, and tracked each order to completion. Immediate approval from representatives. Lost/abandoned online orders were eliminated, customer service was dramatically improved.

IDI (1997)

Designed and coded websites. Created graphics, games, contests for corporate website.

• Created Sandi's Playroom children's website with games and contests and links to popular children's sites of the day.

IBM (1992-1996)

Designed and illustrated IBM educational games for grades K-6. Featured illustrations.
