This is probably easiest to read in my facebook collection.

And yes, this is an actual conversation I overheard multiple times. It's either "he died to serve in heaven" or "he died because he was naughty." Funerals are a real blast there, yup.

On the flip side, it makes the years of therapy that much more entertaining.

This page has sparked a big discussion on religion on my deviantArt and facebook pages, for anyone who isn't on those two sites yet.

My final conclusion on the matter is that there is a lot of unexploited humor to all this Mormon stuff that the offended LDS readers should just be grateful I am not including. My callouts in the comic are fairly tame and for the most part serious instead of the far more risible ones I could have included had I wanted the laughs.

Oh, the fb and dA links are on the top right of mleiv.com's home page now, if you hadn't noticed them. :)

i love how people act like they KNOW the reasons behind senseless things. and feel free to spout that 'knowledge' ad nauseum. i have heard this conversations too many times.

Definitely have the same problem with LDS funerals. Is it really helpful to tell people that they are supposed to somehow "learn" something to justify that person's death?

From my favorite quotes page: "You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them. So now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."

Patterns and meaning in the universe is a two-edged sword: however it makes people feel safe and protected, it also makes each misfortune all the more cruel, because it is seen as intentional in some way. I prefer random chance.
